Twenty-two hours after sending out their demo, Oslo, Norway's quirky electronica duo Xploding Plastix were receiving record company phone calls. Formed in early 1999 by Jens Petter Nilsen and Hallvard Hagen, Xploding Plastix spent a year forming their sound before sending out their demo. Beatservice Records released their first single, "Treat Me Mean, I Need the Reputation," in 2000 and it soon became a favorite of edgier DJs like Coldcut
