One of various band projects for guitarist Erik Rutan (also Hate Eternal, ex-Morbid Angel), Alas are a rather unusual, avant-garde death metal project highlighted by the piercing vocals of soprano Martina Astner (née Hornbacher), formerly of Dreams of Sanity and Korova.
