Jens Petter Nilsen and Hallvard Hagen, Xploding Plastix spent a year forming their sound before sending out their demo. Beatservice Records released their first single, "Treat Me Mean, I Need the Reputation," in 2000 and it soon became a favorite of edgier DJs like Coldcut
